President
Jim Bahnuk, President of Briar Design & Construction is an accomplished and trusted construction manager who is known for his technical expertise. He brings a hands on style rarely seen in custom home renovations. Over the years he has renovated homes in a wide variety of styles. Several of these homes have been featured in Western Living and numerous other magazines along with the Parade of Homes. His work has also been recognized with a Georgie award.
Prior to starting Briar, Jim learned his craft by working for large construction companies such as Dillingham on a number of Vancouver’s landmarks including BC Place Stadium and the Alex Fraser Bridge. It was during this period that he came to fully understand that excellent design, strategic planning and expert management were the keys to a successful project. He lives by the philosophy that, “the only shortcut is to do the job right – the first time.”
Jim is a registered professional journeyman carpenter. He holds the designations of Registered Renovation Professional and Certified Residential Builder and is a member of the Greater Vancouver Home Builder’s Association. With over 30 years of construction experience behind him, Jim has both a broad and deep understanding of home renovations. In particular one of Jim’s distinct skills is his ability to manage the entire renovation process form concept, to design, through the construction process, to completion.
Jim was born in Vancouver and currently lives in Burnaby with his wife. An avid mountain biker, skier and climber, he manages to get out weekly to enjoy all Vancouver has to offer.
